This results in the formation of complex in the gut, which acts as poison and produces many symptoms.<\/p><p data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"677\">Ama is one of the most discussed terms in Ayurveda. The term Amaya is a synonym of disease. It means \u2018that which is caused by ama\u2019.<\/p><p data-start=\"679\" data-end=\"778\">Ama is a product of indigestion formed in the stomach, which tends to cause many systemic diseases.<\/p><p data-start=\"780\" data-end=\"975\">When vitiated doshas come in association with ama they are called saama doshas. These sama doshas are very tough to handle as they produces serious symptoms and are root causes for many diseases.<\/p><p data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1107\">Similarly sama dhatus (tissues associated with ama) and sama malas (waste substances associated with ama) too cause many diseases.<\/p><p data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1420\">Ama, owing to its sticky nature is responsible for many blocks occurring in the cells and tissues, channels etc, causing depletion of nutrition needed for tissue functions and retention of wastes within the body. All these become responsible for many diseases, lowers the strength and immunity of an individual.<\/p><p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1520\">Since ama cause very dangerous symptoms similar to that of poison, it is also called as ama visha.<\/p><hr data-start=\"1522\" data-end=\"1525\" \/><h2 data-section-id=\"1eaxurq\" data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1550\"><strong data-start=\"1530\" data-end=\"1550\">Nirukti, Utpatti<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"1552\" data-end=\"1590\">Derivation of The Word Ama \u2013 (Nirukti)<\/p><p data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1632\">The word \u2018Ama\u2019 is derived form the root.<\/p><p data-start=\"1634\" data-end=\"1744\">Am Roga dhatu + Aa + Dhang Pratyaya (A.K). Here the presiding vowel is elongated and the word \u2018AMA\u201d is formed.<\/p><p data-start=\"1746\" data-end=\"1819\">According to Hemachandra \u2013 Gatyartha Am dhatu + Nich pratyaya = Ama (A.K)<\/p><p data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"1838\">Ama by Utapatti :<\/p><p data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"1885\">\u201cAmyatae Gamyate pakadartham iti Amah\u201d (A.K )<\/p><p data-start=\"1887\" data-end=\"1974\">The substance which is not digested properly and needs further digestion is called Ama.<\/p><p data-start=\"1976\" data-end=\"2026\">\u201cAmayate pidyate srotasamauha aneneti Amah\u201d (A.K.)<\/p><p data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2087\">Substance which is detrimental to srotas is termend as Ama.<\/p><p data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2167\">It produce pain or create pressure on Srotamukha and accumulate in Srotamukha.<\/p><p data-start=\"2169\" data-end=\"2241\">\u201cA isat amyate pachyate iti Amah\u201d (S.K.D.) \u201cpaka rahita kancha is bhasa\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"2243\" data-end=\"2294\">Incompletely digested or unprocessed matter is Ama.<\/p><p data-start=\"2296\" data-end=\"2400\">In Ayurveda the term \u201cAma\u201d means \u2013 substance which is supposed to under go digestion ( Amyate\u2026\u2026iti amah)<\/p><p data-start=\"2402\" data-end=\"2470\">The term \u201cAma\u201d is a synonym of vyadhi found in Charka Nidana sthana.<\/p><p data-start=\"2472\" data-end=\"2527\">\u201cTatra vyadhiramayo gada \u2026\u2026ityanathantaram\u201d (Ch.Ni \u2013 1)<\/p><p data-start=\"2529\" data-end=\"2582\">\u201cPrayena Ama samuthena Amaya ityuchyate\u201d (Chakrapani)<\/p><p data-start=\"2584\" data-end=\"2645\">According to Aruna datta \u2013 \u201ckilama samutthah sarve vyadhayah\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"2647\" data-end=\"2698\">The most part of the disease are ingendered by Ama.<\/p><p data-start=\"2700\" data-end=\"2756\">AA \u2013 As a prefix to verb &amp; noun. It means near, near to.<\/p><p data-start=\"2758\" data-end=\"2769\">MA \u2013 poison<\/p><p data-start=\"2771\" data-end=\"2863\">Ama denotes a substance, or a group of substance which is near to poison or act like poison.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2865\" data-end=\"2868\" \/><h2 data-section-id=\"1ymh9q7\" data-start=\"2870\" data-end=\"2896\"><strong data-start=\"2873\" data-end=\"2896\">Derivation, meaning<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"2898\" data-end=\"2924\">Derivation of the term Ama<\/p><p data-start=\"2926\" data-end=\"3199\">The term Ama is pronounced as Aama. It is made up of two root words \u0100 + ma. In this, \u2018\u0100\u2019 means towards and \u2018ma\u2019 means poison. This explains that ama is a substance which is similar to poison or poison like substance. Due to the retention for longer period, this undigested food undergoes fermentation and further gets contaminated. This immature digestive juices in stomach is called ama.<\/p><p data-start=\"4734\" data-end=\"4957\">The first product of digestion is the nutritive part of the food. This is the first tissue formed in the body. In Ama, it is incompletely processed due to the debility of digestive fire located in the stomach is called ama.<\/p><p data-start=\"4959\" data-end=\"5164\">That part of nutritive juices which has been left out without being processed properly after the digestion of food due to weak digestive fire is called ama.
